01 · What the Sunlake Blvd project would build
The county plans a new road of about miles, from Center Village Drive to south of Appenzeller Boulevard.

The design solicitation describes two stages. The interim road has one lane each way and a turn lane “when warranted”, with a bike lane and a meandering multi-use trail. The ultimate road adds lanes, bike lanes and a sidewalk alongside the trail. The solicitation doesn’t say what would trigger the change from one to the other.
The land comes from the Bexley North development, which will dedicate the right-of-way for the extension.

Sunlake already connects North Dale Mabry Highway in Hillsborough County with Center Village Drive, and separately runs north from south of Wilton Way to State Road 52. The middle piece is “being designed and will be constructed by Len-Angeline, LLC,” according to the county’s solicitation. The county is also building Ridge Road east from Sunlake Boulevard to US 41 under a design-build contract.
No project sheet for Sunlake was found in the MPO’s 2050 long range plan appendix, and no corridor-wide study has been published.

The typical sections label the road an arterial without saying minor or principal, so both are marked. They give a design speed of mph and a posted speed of mph.
Whether the road is on the county’s Freight Priority Network, and what share of its traffic is expected to be trucks, hasn’t been published.

On the Commission approved a ranked shortlist of three design firms and let the County Administrator negotiate and sign the contract. The signed contract hadn’t appeared on an agenda by 28 September 2026.
The MPO’s June 2026 priority list gives the funded phase as , and its status column records design in , right-of-way in and construction in , all in the county’s capital plan. The list places it under the heading “construction unfunded”, as it does Rangeland Boulevard.

Will a route study be published, with alternatives and a public workshop, before design is fixed? The priority list names one for FY 2026; design procurement began in December 2025.
What traffic is forecast on the new road and on Bud Bexley Pkwy and Center Village Dr, with and without it, and how do nearby intersections grade?
What would trigger widening from the interim road to six lanes, and who decides?
Has noise been studied for homes along the Bexley North and Angeline stretches, and will mitigation be considered?
What do the two northern budget lines pay for, given the solicitation says the developer is designing and building the Angeline piece?
What truck share is assumed, and is the road on the Freight Priority Network?
No public workshop or comment period for Sunlake has been announced.
